POLY-PEPTIDES

Peptides are amides formed by the interactions between amino group and carboxyl groups. The bond joining the α-amino group of one amino acids and the α-carboxyl group of another amino acid is known as the peptide bond.
Two amino acids react to form a dipeptide; three amino acids to form a tripeptide; and so on

If a number of amino acids are linked by peptide bonds, a polypeptides is formed. A polypeptides chain has an amino end and a carboxyl end. It consists of a regularly repeating part or main chain and a variable part (indicated by R) or side chain.
